The winners of the prestigious 5th annual Our World Underwater international underwater photography & video competition have been announced! Thousands of entries from dozens of countries around the world impressed an esteemed judging panel. Each year the bar is set higher and we congratulate all of the participants from for such magnificent ocean related imagery.

The Best of Show in the stills competition went to David Barrio of Spain. Bruno Vanherck of Belgium took first in the general video category, while Zsolt Sasdi from Hungary won first place in the video conservation category. The pool of winners represented fourteen countries in total. A complete list of the results, winning images and videos can be found on the Our World Underwater 2010 competition page.
The winning images and videos were presented during a special 40th annual film festival at Our World Underwater in Chicago, and were on exhibit all weekend. The winning images will be featured in scuba diving and travel publications around the world and online.
The teams at DivePhotoGuide, Wetpixel and Our World Underwater want to congratulate all the competitors for the high quality level of the images submitted. It was a tough competition to judge.
Photographers & videographers competed in seven still-image categories and two video categories, to win nearly $50,000 in prizes from our very gracious sponsors. Prizes included diving packages to some of the top photo destinations in the world, including The Sea of Cortez, Wakatobi-Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the Red Sea, Grand Cayman, the Solomon Islands, Vietnam and Norway. Other prizes included underwater photography gear, focus lights, Cressi dive equipment and other valuable items.
Esteemed judges included leading professional underwater photographers, cinematographers and magazine editors: Eric Cheng, David Doubilet, Ric Frazier, Alex Mustard, and Berkley White comprised the judging panel for still categories, and Steve Douglas, Eric Hanauer and Mary Lynn Price for video categories.
As with all Wetpixel & DivePhotoGuide competitions, 15% of proceeds will be donated to marine conservation efforts.
