David Gallardo David Gallardo was born in 1975 in Portugalete (Spain). Soon after, he and his family moved to Barcelona where he spent most of his childhood. The son of a commercial diver, he first experienced his passion for the sea at a young age. Being only 8 years old, he started practicing scuba and free diving. After many years of experience in free diving in the Mediterranean sea, he took his first steps in underwater photography discovering a whole new realm.
At the age of 18, he received his first scuba diving certification with C.M.A.S. (Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques) and, after assisting with the training of scuba divers, he decided to get his PADI dive instructor license. In 1999 David moved to the Turks & Caicos Islands where he worked as a dive instructor for 4 years.
In 2003 when he got his first job as a professional underwater photographer and had the tremendous opportunity of photographing the rich marine life of the islands as well as the migration of the humpback whales to the Silver Bank (Dominican Rep.), memories of a life time. During the last few years, David has been travelling and photographing land and marine biodiversity in places such as Galapagos Islands, Red Sea, Caribbean and Indonesia. He presently lives in the Turks & Caicos Islands working as a full time professional photographer. He plans to keep on travelling and capturing images of the planet amazing oceans.
